Washing Machine. A Necessity or Luxury?
It has been known for a long time that washing dishes takes up a considerable part of life. Some are scared off by horror stories about the high consumption of water and electricity, but these are all myths. On the contrary, such a kitchen gadget conserves water resources, not to mention saving physical effort and time. How to choose a dishwasher in terms of size and capacity? Get the answer in this article made by our team.
What type of washing machine do you need?
If you have already decided that you need a dishwasher, first decide on the type of device. This will help to correctly position the product in the kitchen in order to save as much living space as possible. There are three types of them.
A portable dishwasher is a mini option for the smallest kitchens. Its dimensions are slightly larger than a microwave. You can place such a dishwasher only on the countertop, and it connects directly to the tap. Of course, its capacity is not large – 4-5 sets of dishes, but for a bachelor apartment that is what you need.
A stationary dishwasher is an option for those with a large kitchen space. It can be placed instead of one of the headset elements, but the facade will stand out from the overall picture. You can put it separately if space permits.
The built-in dishwasher fits into the interior of the kitchen better than any other since it is possible to close it completely with the same facade as the entire kitchen set. Ideal if the kitchen layout is only at the development stage.
If the family is small, then a narrow dishwasher will work. It will require only 30-45 centimetres of kitchen space, but at the same time, it will be able to provide its owners with a sufficient amount of clean dishes – from 6 to 10 sets.
The capacity of the washing machine
In addition to the external dimensions of the dishwasher, the internal capacity is also important. It is measured in sets of dishes per person. On average, a family member uses three plates (flat, deep, and dessert), a mug, and a fork with a spoon for one meal. The dishwasher capacity ranges from 4 to 17 sets: portable machines, about 30 cm high, have a capacity of 4-6 sets, narrow machines – 10-11 sets, full-scale – 11-17 sets.
To save water, energy, and detergents, it is advisable to run the dishwasher just once a day. Which means the need to put all the dishes used in the day inside it. Three family members will have time to use at least 9 sets, and they will also need space for pots and a frying pan.
By the way, the less water is consumed by the dishwasher, the less electricity is used! Modern models spend only 15 litres per run, some have a savings mode and spend no more than 9 litres. Therefore, be sure to pay attention to this criterion when choosing a dishwasher. The variety of washing machines can be found on the Home Essentials website.
